2008 Aratas Petite Sirah from the Oak Knoll Vineyard
Aratas Wine is an ultra-premium Petite Sirah from Napa Valley. The Chohany brothers, owners of Second Street Restaurant in Williamsburg, a locals favorite for over 25 years and Wine Spectator Award of Excellence recipient, are passionate that fine food and wine enhance the experience of each other. Following years of producing wine with friend and respected winemaker Mike Drash, owner of Tallulah Wines and co-founder of Aratas (formerly of Luna, Far Niente, J Vineyards and DeLoach) for personal enjoyment, the brothers are pleased to release their most dynamic vintage (2008) under the Aratas label. Aratas, pronounced Ara-tash pays tribute to the Chohany’s family deeply rooted Hungarian heritage and new world innovation. Sustainably farmed, this boutique wine is far from petite. A lush, highly extracted small berry varietal, this Petite Sirah is an appropriate match for American fare and hearty dishes. This “harvest of gold” label is a nod to the wheat fields surrounding the Tokai vines surrounding the Chohany’s old world home and, as fate would have it, Aratas’ new world Napa Valley vineyard. www.arataswine.com
