This wine is light and tart, with a zip to the acidity that carries the vivid, celery-tinged gooseberry and lime flavors, lingering impressively on the sharply focused finish. WS 91

Araujo Sauvignon Blanc 2008

The voluptuous nose shows intensely tropical notes of mango, guava, grapefruit and citrus blossom, while in the mouth, delicious fruit flavors of pear, green apple and citrus fruit are highlighted by creamy texture and a long, mineral finish. Notes winemaker Matt Taylor, “This wine is expressive of the Eisele Vineyard terroir in its sweet, luscious flavors and full-bodied density, perfectly balanced by bright acidity and hints of crushed rock and soapstone.”

Bevan Cellars Kick Ranch Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Liquid sunshine! Initially the nose is a mix of passion fruit and citrus. As the wine opens up it reveals hints of pineapple and its aromatic impact quickly gains momentum. On the palate the wine becomes very serious. This is nothing like your average Northern California Sauvignon Blanc. It has crisp acidity, with a persistent minerality. While there is a kiss of sweetness, there is no sugar. After the initial wave of acidity hits, the wine takes another turn and there is a great richness to it. An extra layer of texture reveals a round, plush quality that such crisp wines rarely have. From there the finish just goes and goes
