DONELAN WINES

1 – 1.5 Liter bottle each except as noted – 4 bottles total

Donelan Obsidian 2009

Made from 100% Syrah with 40% stems, it will be aged 18 months before bottling. From a high elevation vineyard, it boasts an opaque ruby/purple color in addition to notes of bacon fat, blackberries and spring flowers. Still somewhat understated, it offers numerous layers and nuances on the palate, good freshness and a long distance style. RP 96

Donelan Walker Vine Hill 2009

A dense ruby/purple color is followed by copious aromas of blueberries, black cherries, cassis and camphor as well as the tell-tale meaty notes that are usually a part of the Donelan wines. RP 94

Donelan Cuvee Christine 2009

The wine is named after Joe Donelan’s wife. Attractive notes of black currants, bacon fat, Provencal herbs, licorice and smoke are found in this elegant, fleshy, rich wine. It has good acidity, sweet tannin and burgeoning complexity. RP 93

Donelan Richards Vineyard 2007

Flirting with perfection, this wine is a staggering effort. This Cote Rotie-like effort displays remarkable floral/lavender characteristics (these rocky soils were once used for a lavender farm) along with a dense purple color and an awesome bouquet of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries and white chocolate. It hits the palate with a crescendo of intense, ripe, concentrated black fruits interwoven with barrique, charcoal and burning ember-like flavors. Don’t miss it! RP 97-100 (1 – 3 Liter bottle)
