CHARDONNAY

6 – 750 ml bottles each – 36 bottles total

Ferrari Carrano Chardonnay 2007

Aromas of orange marmalade, honeyed lemon blossoms, and baked apples emerge from the fruity, medium to full-bodied 2007 Chardonnay. It possesses fresh acidity, a heady finish, and no obvious oak.

Beringer Sbragia Chardonnay 2006

This wine reveals an opulent tropical fruit character, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and hints of hazelnut, brioche, and honeysuckle as well as abundant glycerin and length. Good acidity provides balance and overall zest. RP 92

Patz & Hall Dutton Ranch Chardonnay 2007

This Chardonnay exhibits a more buttery, caramel, and hazelnut-scented style, and in that sense, it harkens back to the older style of California Chardonnays. This broad, full-bodied, rich, bone dry effort reveals more oak than in some of its siblings. RP 92

Paul Hobbs Chardonnay 2008

This wine offers abundant notes of orange blossoms, tropical fruits, white peaches and a hint of smoky oak. This fleshy, full-bodied Chardonnay exhibits a steely backbone because of good acidity. RP 92

Kistler Vine Hill Vineyard Chardonnay 2007

This is the first vintage in which 100% of the fermentations were indigenous, and, fortunately, all their Sonoma Coast vineyards were far enough south that they were not tainted by any of the smoke from the ferocious fires that spread through Mendocino. This is a full-bodied, impressively endowed wine. RP 95

Fichet Meursault Tesson Chardonnay 2008

Fichet’s methods reflect his philosophy: he is famously meticulous and abhors taking short cuts.  The wine is bright yellow with an expressive nose that offers pineapple, nut oil and stone. It is supple, creamy and easygoing; a shapely fruit bomb with noteworthy depth and sex appeal. A note of vanilla cream adds interest to the lingering finish. Stephen Tanzer IWC 91
