BREWER CLIFTON

6 – 750 ml bottles each – 18 bottles total

Two brilliant young winemakers, Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton, are symbolic of both the present and future of California high quality wine production. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, with their own personal visions of wine quality formed by French and Italian experiences as well as their belief in the cool climate sites of Santa Rita Hills, they have proven time and time again that remarkable wines can emerge from this relatively new viticultural region.

Brewer Clifton Mt. Carmel Chardonnay 2007

This wine exhibits a liqueur of rocks-like component reminiscent of a Chassagne-Montrachet grand cru. Peach blossom, white citrus and orange notes are present in this full-throttle, intensely flavored Chardonnay, and brilliant acidity gives the wine laser-like precision. This is another tour de force from these talented winemakers. RP 96

Brewer Clifton Seasmoke Chardonnay 2007

This 2007 reveals a liquid citrus note intermixed with notions of honey, orange and lemon blossoms, and earth, stunning purity, and a restrained, elegant style in spite of its power (15.9% alcohol). It has great texture, tremendous concentration and length, and no heat. RP 96

Brewer Clifton Mt Carmel Pinot Noir 2007

This Pinot Noir cuts a stylistic path between the rich, fruit-driven Melville and the more earthy, barnyardy, terroir-driven Clos Pepe. The Mount Carmel offers plenty of blue and red fruits intermixed with hints of smoke, roasted herbs, earth, pomegranate, and underbrush. The sweetness of the tannins, beautiful full-bodied mouthfeel, and good acidity all reflect another brilliant Pinot Noir from this exceptionally talented duo. RP 95+
