A special selection from the world’s premier Zinfandel specialist, Larry Turley
1- 750 ml bottle each except as noted – 10 bottles total
Robert Parker says: He deserves remarkable credit for his “holy grail” quest to locate largely forgotten parcels of old Zinfandel vines, and preserve as many of these historic sites as possible. The glory of Zinfandel is its youthful, exuberant, flamboyant, spicy, peppery, briery fruit. All of these Zinfandels come from dry-farmed vineyards, a majority of them being old head-pruned sites planted by Italian immigrants in the late 19th century.Â
Turley Pesenti Zinfandel
From their home vineyards on the limestone soils in Paso Robles, the 2007 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard displays richness, freshness, and vibrancy (no doubt due to the cool limestone soils), and beautiful notes of kirsch liqueur and licorice. RP 92 (2 Bottles)
 Turley Moore Earthquake Zinfandel Â
One of Turley’s flagship Zinfandels ~ made from very old vines, it possesses Southern Rhone-like black currant and kirsch aromas interwoven with notions of licorice and lavender. It is spicy, pure, ripe, round and velvety-textured. RP 94
 Turley Uberroth Zinfandel
From the chalky, limestone soils of Paso Robles, this wine reveals a Burgundian-like character with a delicacy and restraint that are atypical for a Turley Zinfandel. Good acidity along with notes of kirsch and ripe strawberries are present in this medium to full-bodied, distinctive effort. RP 92
 Turley Dogtown Zinfandel Â
This may be the finest Zinfandel ever tasted from Lodi. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of incense, blackberries, raspberries, pepper, and garrigue. This wine is light on its feet for its size, with gorgeous concentration and a long finish. RP 93
Turley Cedarman Zinfandel
Outside of Angwin on Howell Mountain, at 2400 feet elevation rests the Cedarman Vineyard. Dry-farmed, the Turley team is able to have complete control of the farming practices so they can maintain consistency from the vineyard to the bottle. Pure and smooth, this 2007 Zin shows extremely well immediately after opening.
Turley Hayne Zinfandel
This Zinfandel boasts a dark ruby/purple color as well as a sweet perfume of spring flowers, blackberries, and truffles. A deep, full-bodied, rich wine. RP 93
Turley Tofanelli Zinfandel
A sexy wine offering loads of strawberry and black cherry fruit along with hints of pepper, and spice. Round and full-bodied. RP 90
Turley Salvador Zinfandel 2007
From another old vine site from Contra Costa (planted in 1896), this Zin represents the first of a group of wines that had not yet been bottled. It shows briery, black raspberry, and cherry fruit intermixed with underbrush, and pepper undertones. RP 90
Turley Hayne Petite Syrah 2007
No one makes more concentrated or ageworthy wines than Larry Turley’s Petite Syrahs. This is California’s most underrated, long-lived varietal and it can match Cabernet Sauvignon for the longest lived varietal in California. This is a colossal Petite Syrah. Its opaque purple color is followed by an extraordinary perfume of graphite, blackberries, blueberries, licorice, and crushed rocks. It is enormously endowed and extremely powerful, with teeth-staining extract, and an amazing finish that lasts nearly a minute. RP 97
