ACCESS College Foundation
ACCESS College Foundation:
Founded in 1988 by Frank Batten and Joshua P. Darden, Jr., the ACCESS College Foundation helps high school students in South Hampton Roads fulfill their dreams of going to college. ACCESS Advisors work in the 28 public high schools of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Suffolk to encourage and guide students and their parents through the maze of paperwork and deadlines to pay for college.
The ACCESS College Foundation will help students in the public schools of South Hampton Roads go to college:
* by inspiring the hope that a college education is attainable;
* by supporting them in achieving the requirements for college acceptance;
* by guiding them through the college application process; and
* by assisting them in gaining the funds to attend college.
In its 18 years of operation, ACCESS has helped nearly 51,000 students in the college admission process and has leveraged more than $149 million in financial aid. In addition to leveraging financial aid for students, ACCESS has provided more than $3.4 million in “Last Dollar Scholarships” to students who have an unmet financial need.
